To stay over, or not?
Big news first: the organizers have announced that the 2026 edition (Nov 1) will be the LAST. This is your final chance to race through the grounds and pilgrimage trails of an ancient Hida temple.
- Check-in is race morning only, 7:15–8:00 (no day-before option). Start 8:30, course closes 11:30 — a compact morning of racing
- Senkoji Temple (Takayama) is ~20 min by car/taxi from Takayama Station. No shuttle — this is a drive-to race
- The temple's three free lots hold only ~35 cars. Drivers: arrive early. Everyone else: share a taxi from the station
- Stay in Takayama town — plenty of hotels, but early November is peak foliage season, so book weekends early
- The temple sits above 700 m; race-morning temps can approach 0°C. Bring a jacket and gloves for the wait

- ~20 min by taxi from Takayama Station; no public bus service is listed
- Cutoffs: Daijimon north lot at 11:00, full course closes 11:30
- You'll be done before noon — spend the afternoon in Takayama's old town and an onsen
